Jamnabai Narsee hold St. Francis D’Assisi to a goalless draw

St. Francis D’Assisi and Jamnabai Narsee played a drab 0-0 draw in a Group A game of the U-16 1st Division of the Mumbai School Sports Association (MSSA) league, held at the MSSA Ground in South Mumbai on Tuesday, 28th July 2015.

The game had a quiet opening few minutes as both teams were trying to gauge each other. St. Francis D’Assisi eventually started to dominate the ball possession in the game, post the ten minute mark.

D’Assisi came the closest to opening the scoring in a tight first half in the 18th minute, when Michael Abhishek’s looping effort from a corner went just over the crossbar.

St. Francis enjoyed the bulk of the ball possession, but Jamnabai were able to cope with them fairly comfortably as the referee drew the first half to the close.

The second half was similar to the first one as both teams cancelled each other out for large parts.

The game needed an inspiration or a stroke of luck and St. Francis almost won it in the 51st minute when the ball fortuitously rebounded off a Jamnabai defender to bounce just wide of the target.

The team from Borivali gave it their all but couldn’t break down a stern Jamnabai defence as both the teams had to settle for a point.
