Income Tax and Young Boys drew in a Controversial clash

On 2nd November, 2015 In a controversial match, Young Boys drew 1-1 against Income Tax in Super Division of Mumbai District Football Association (MDFA) at St Xavier’s Ground, Parel.

Raj Trivedi’s strike for Income Tax earlier in the first-half was cancelled by Ubaid’s looping header for Young Boys in the second-half. Had Young Boys’s Abdullah scored from the spot in the first-half, things would have been surely different for Ex Central Railways Captain Arif Ansari’s side.

Income Tax had a bright start in the early stages of the match as they came close to score in the third minute itself when Lokendra Swak’s shot was just wide off the left post.

Although it took Income Tax only five minutes to open the scoring as Raj Trivedi brilliantly controlled Madan Talikdar’s long ball and sublimely placed it into the net to give Income Tax an early lead over Young Boys.

Lokendra Swak, Madan Talikdar and Mikhil Tandel had an impressive first-half for Income Tax as they kept threatening Young Boys’s back line.

On 32nd minutes, Income Tax came close to increase their lead as Defender Priyesh Parkar’s header from Vaibhav Tandel’s free kick was just off target. This could have sealed the game for Income Tax right there.

In the additional time of first-half, Income Tax’s joy was short lived as Ubaid was brought down in the box, allowing Referee to point straight towards the spot. Young Boys’s Abdullah stepped up to convert the penalty and unfortunately had his shot whisper past the left post.

Young Boys hit back strongly in the second-half as they dominated Income Tax but they were not clinical in front of the goal.

Ubaid, who was Young Boys best player on that day saw his curling effort went just wide which could have been a superb goal but he was precise the next time ball came towards him.

Asif’s brilliant ball through free kick found Ubaid, who was unmarked, sublimely headed it home to equalize for the Young Boys.

Unfortunately, the Referee and the players decided not to play further due to bad light. Both the set of players were unable to see the ball as the Referee called off the match with 14 minutes still left.

The Coaches and Management of both the team were left unhappy due to the late kick-off between Young Boys and Income Tax.

A controversial match which could have been gone either way had the game was started on time.
