Fernandes scores to take Rangers into semis
Mumbai: Jacob Fernandes scored the all-important winner as Kalina Rangers overcame Kalina Village Boys ‘B’ in the ninth and final round league match of the 15th Kalina Football League -2015, organised by the Our Lady of Egypt Church Sports Committee, and played at the St. Mary’s High School ground, Kalina. The win secured Rangers a spot in the semi-finals.
In another match, Kalina Village Boys ‘A’ and IndoNest drew goalless and both also advanced to the last four round. Air India Colony had already booked their place in the penultimate round.
Meanwhile, in the veterans’ competition, Air India guided by Anthony Fernandes’ lone strike got the better of RCF by a narrow 1-0 margin.
