Mubarak Hunters defeated Sports Gurukul 1-0, in the Mumbai District Football Association (MDFA) 3rd Division Match held at Xavier’s Ground ‘Parel’ on 11th April 2015.

Sports Gurkul were confident about defeating Mubarak Hunters, after their 6-5 win against Rising Stars FC over a week ago.

The initial few minutes of match were cagey as both Mubarak Hunters and Sports Gurukul were testing each other’s attacking ability. An attack in the 8th minuteby Junaid Shaikh set the pace of the game as he had a chance to score as he ran from the right wing and aimed at the goal. But his shot was caught by the Sports Gurkul Goalkeeper Rahul Shetty.

There was another chance for Junaid when Ameez Ansari put a through ball which he failed to the striker. Later, Usama Halwai chipped the ball over the cross bar but none of these efforts materialized into a goal.

Mainly, Mubarak Hunters made a few mistakes in their defensive area while Sports Gurukul couldn’t take advantage of there opponent’s weakness and so the first half ended goalless.

The match became interesting as both the teams looked to strike the opening goal of the match. Varun, the striker of Sports Gurkul, got fouled in the 27th minute and another teammate of his Harish took the shot which couldn’t penetrate the Mubarak defence.

The only Goal of the game came in the 31st minute as Mubarak Hunters got a free kick which they ably took advantage of as Akash Shinde kicked the ball while being surrounded by Sports Gurukul defenders and Rahul Shetty couldn’t see the incoming ball, the result being a 1-0 lead over Sports Gurukul.

Manish had a chance to equalize 3 minutes later where he tried to head the ball over the Mubarak Hunter’s goalkeeper, Saurabh. Mubarak Hunters became dominant after their one goal lead and soon the final whistle blew with Mubarak Hunters Defeating Sports Gurukul 1-0.

Earlier that day, Samuel F.C. defeated Friends S.C. 5-0 where Shivam Gohil and Harsh Singh scored 2 goals each and Harshad Dudhwadkar scored 1 goal taking Samuel F.C’s tally to 5-0.
