Delightful Kenkre FC dismantle PIFA Colaba to record maiden win

Kenkre FC were in rampant mood as they thrashed PIFA Colaba 4-0 in the 2nd Division League game at Cooperage on Friday evening. The win was Kenkre FC’s first win in the competition after drawing two and losing two in the first four games. Kenkre dominated from the first minute and PIFA Colaba struggled to live with their tempo throughout the game. Kenkre’s immaculate finishing too was a key as they cruised to their first win in the 2nd Division League.

Kenkre started the game with a high tempo and stroked the ball well in the early parts of the game. Kenkre’s constant switching of flanks was causing a PIFA problems. Kenkre’s use of the wings proved to be fruitful in the 9th minute of the game when Egypsio Noronha received a cut back from the left flank just outside the box, before the the Kenkre midfielder riffled the net with a superbly drilled rffot into the bottom corner. Kenkre were ahead in the 2nd Division League for the first time since the league began and looked a completely different team.

Kenkre had their tails up and it took them just seven minutes to go 2-0 up in the game courtesy of an absolute scorcher from Loukik Jadhav who let fly from thirty yards out after being granted enough space to shoot.  PIFA Colaba responded by making a change as they put in new signing Farhaz Ahmed in place of Ashish Sapkale midway through the first half.

However, Kenkre continued to have a swagger about their play in the first half which got better for the men in green when Ivorian striker Yao Kouassi Bernard curled home Kenkre’s third goal a minute before half time to put Kenkre in complete control of the game at half time.

Kenkre made a dream start to the second half when Prathamesh Rokade profited from a confusion in the PIFA box to bundle home from close range. PIFA Colaba players protested as they expected the referee to blow for an infringement on one of their defenders in the course of the goal.

The game lost a bit of its tempo and became slightly physical. Coach Salim Pathan sensed the change in the game and replaced Taha Kachwala who was on a yellow card from the first half with Abuzer Beg, to avoid the situation of his team going down to ten men.

Kenkre came close to adding a fifth goal in the 83rd minute, when Yao Bernard clattered with the PIFA Colaba goalkeeper while attempting to get on the end of a whipped in cross from the right flank and the ball slowly rolled towards the goal line after escaping the clutches of the goalkeeper. But a PIFA Colaba defender was there in time to clear the danger.

PIFA Colaba’s attacks fizzled out as they reached the box throughout the second half and that ended any hopes of PIFA Colaba scripting a miraculous comeback in the game. Kenkre however registered their first win of the competition and moved to five points in the Western Conference of the 2nd Division League.

PIFA Colaba remained rock bottom in the Western Conferenc table after picking up just two points in their five games so far.
