Colaco and Sahani fire hat-tricks to send Maharashtra girls into the Quarters

Maharashtra girl’s produced another brilliant performance to maintain their superb winning run. The girl’s from the western state of India recorded another splendid win, handing Sikkim a 8-0 defeat in a Group-E league match of the AIFF Sub-Junior Girls’ Under-15 National Football Championship, played at Cuttack, Orissa on Wednesday. Maharashtra enjoyed a commanding 4-0 half-time lead.

The Maharashtra team, with two successive wins, have now topped the group and have qualified for the quarter-final phase of the competition. Maharashtra had earlier defeated Uttarakhand 11-1 in the opening group match, while Sikkim prevailed over the latter by a 4-1 margin.

The highlight of Maharashtra’s victory was Tricia Colaca who notched another hat-trick, her second in the competition.

The others who made good contribution towards the win was Indian international and captain Bhagyashree who scored two goals and Reetika Sahani who also scored three goals, converting two penalties and a late goal to seal Maharashtra’s big win.

Bhagyashree struck the opening goal in the 21st minute before Tricia doubled the lead two minutes later. Tricia struck two more goals in the 39th and 58th minutes to complete her hat-trick. In between Reetika successfully converted penalties in the 34th and 61st minutes. Bhagyashree added her second in the 66th minute while Reetika rounded off the tally with her third goal in the 80th minute.

Results: Maharashtra 8 (Bhagyashree Dalvi 21’, 66’; Tricia Colaco 23’, 39’, 58’; Reetika Sahani 34’ (P), 61’ (P), 80’) beat Sikkim 0.
