Body Line Sports win the MDFA Women’s League

Body Line Sports brought out the Champion in them on the final day of the Mumbai District Football Association (MDFA) Women’s League as they thrashed Smart Football Leader 5-0 to edge out S.P. Academy on goal difference to claim the MDFA Women’s League crown.

It was a thrilling end to the league as Body Line Sports were at their ruthless best as they thrashed Smart Football Leader 5-0. Body Line needed a win by at least three goals to go ahead of S.P. Academy on goal difference.

Kimberly Fernandez set Body Line on their way with an opening goal which was followed by Zarastyn Mistry netting her first of the two goals in the evening.

Ameeta Venkat scored the all-important third goal which put Body Line on level terms with S.P. Academy in terms of goal difference. But Body Line romped home the momentum and added two more goals from Kimberly Miranda and Zarastyn Mistry.

The win meant Body Line Sports moved into the driving seat in the MDFA Women’s league with a three point over S.P. Academy before latter clashed with Companeroes in the final game.

S.P. Academy needed to beat Companeroes by three goals in order to snatch back the initiative from Body Line and seemed to be on their way to do so when Abeer Arsiwala fired them into a first half lead. But a resilient Companeroes side who enjoyed Body Line’s support defended heroically to deny S.P. Academy any further goals handing Body Line the title on virtue on superior goal difference.

Body Line and S.P. Academy both finished on 17 points each with Body Line edging past their rivals with a goal difference of +15 compared to S.P. Academy’s +14

The MDFA President handed the winners and the runners-up trophy to the respective teams. Sanjeevani Academy finished the season in third place on 14 points.

S.P. Academy’s Abeer Arsiwala who was the stand out player throughout the league was righly awarded the player of the tournament. Abeer has represented the national team at the U-19 level and is a great ambassador for the league.
