Amir Sayyed’s energy on the flanks made the difference for Carmelites

Carmelites produced a second half comeback to beat a strong Century Rayon side 2-1 in the MDFA 1st Division game on Friday.

Century Rayon displayed greater technical superiority during the course of the game, but it was the drive and hunger of the Carmelites which prevailed in the end.

Leading the charge for the Carmelites was left winger Amir Sayyed whose tireless efforts gave the 2nd Division Champions plenty of problems throughoit the game winning him the Football Counter Man of the Match Award

A constant threat from set-pieces Amir almost scored in the 9th minute as he rose the highest to send a corner inches wide.

But there was no stopping him seven minutes into the srcond half when he made a clever run at the far post to equalize the score

The equalizer completely changed the course of the game and Carmelites took the ascendancy in the game.

Carmelites’s second goal too was a result of some great pressing from Amir on the left flank as he forced the Rayon right back to pass it back to the goalkeeper who fumbled allowing Carmelites to grab the lead.

All throughout the game,Amir helped his left back deal with the threat of the the mazy Century Rayon forwards and his tenacity down that left flank proved to be the difference.

After going in front, Amir dropped back into the left back position and sacrificed his attacking instincts to allow the original left back to tuck in form a comoact defense.

For a stellar all-round performance and a crucial equalizer, Amir Sayyed wins the Football Counter Man of the Match award.
