Aagri Pada Youth Club (AYC) clears the first hurdle of the MDFA 3rd Division Qualifiers

Aagri Pada Youth Club edged out a spirited Shree Sai Seva Mandal on penalties after the MDFA 3rd Division Qualifying game was tied at 1-1 after the regulation fifty minutes at the St. Xavier’s Ground in Parel on Sunday, 12th July 2015.

Shree Sai Seva Mandal kept the ball better compared to AYC. In the 17th minute they almost got the lead, only to be denied by AYC goalkeeper, it was a good move initiated by the Sai midfielders who created the opportunity for Shubham who did justice by keeping the ball on target, but it was well anticipated by AYC goalkeeper.

Though it was Shree Sai Seva Mandal who dominated the match but it was AYC did what it requires to win the match. 24 minutes later Swaplin Kalekar was on target with his long range attempt which was kept out although not completely by Shree Sai Seva goalkeeper Ramij Shaikh.AYC got the breakthrough from a well taken corner as Swapnil Kalekar was at the right spot to score season’s first goal after sending the ball into the net just before the lemon break.

In the second half Shree Sai Seva Mandal kept the momentum going, and it was rewarded in the 46th minute of the game when former BPT (Bombay port trust) captain Saville Furtado shot a thunderbolt of a shot from 30 yard into the net. It was a perfect equaliser by the young captain.

The season’s first match needed a penalty shootout. After a topsy-turvy penalty shootout, AYC clinched the tie in sudden death to progress to the next round
