India announce 28-man squad for preparatory camp

Indian emerge champion of Hero tri-nation series 2017

As many as eleven players from the AFC U-23 Qualifiers in Doha has been called by Coach Constantine in the preparatory camp for Macau game

Preparatory

In the preliminary squad of 28 for India’s forthcoming AFC Asian Cup Qualifier against Macau, eleven U-23 players have been named by the national team coach with the likes of Alan Deory, Sarthak Golui given the opportunity.

The squad will assemble in Mumbai on September 28 with practice scheduled to kick-off the next day. Out of form Striker Robin Singh has been dropped from the squad after scoring just once in last six games. However former BFC and now Kerala Blasters forward CK Vineeth makes a comeback in to the squad after having been fallen out of favours in the last few games.

Alan Deory, Lalruatthara, Sarthak Golui, Salam Rajan Singh are some of the members of the U23 squad called on for senior team service. While Anirudh Thapa and Nikhil Poojary have been retained from the Tri-Nation series, Manvir Singh has been dropped

India who have won all their three matches so far sit pretty on the top of Group A with 9 points from three matches and a win against Macau will seal a berth to the AFC Asian Cup UAE 2019. The National Team have been unbeaten in the last 11 matches winning 10 of those (including the un-official match against Bhutan).

Constantine, however, isn’t much willing to read into India’s position in the group table, “Every match starts afresh. The results of our previous matches are all history and will have no bearing when we kick-off on October 11 at home against Macau,” he stated. “I am looking forward to start training with the boys and need to work hard to keep alive our chances of earning a ticket to the AFC Asian Cup 2019,” he added.
