The Western India Football Association (WIFA) has announced the squad for Maharashtra State Junior Boys Football Team that will represent the state in the upcoming Junior Boys National Football Championship – Tier 1. The tournament will be held in Narainpur, Chhattisgarh, with Maharashtra placed in Group B alongside Goa, Delhi, and Jharkhand.

The championship fixtures for Maharashtra are as follows:
– August 3: Goa vs Maharashtra
– August 5: Maharashtra vs Jharkhand
– August 7: Maharashtra vs Delhi

All matches will take place at the RKM Ashrama Ground.

AMRITSAR: The Hero Senior Women’s National Football Championship 2022-23 final round will begin on Wednesday, June 14, here in Amritsar, Punjab with Odisha and Jharkhand squaring off in the opening fixture. All matches from the Guru Nanak Stadium will be streamed live on Indian Football’s YouTube channel. 

Comprising 12 teams divided into two groups, the final round of the 27th edition of the tournament will be held across two venues – GNDU Sports Complex and Khalsa College. The matches will be played in a single round-robin format, with the top two teams from each group qualifying for the semi-finals, which will be played on June 25 and 26 respectively. The final will be played on Wednesday, June 28 at the GNDU Sports Complex in Amritsar.

Punjab, Tamil Nadu, Chandigarh, Odisha, Karnataka and Jharkhand are placed in Group A while Manipur, Himachal Pradesh, Maharashtra, Railways, West Bengal and Haryana complete Group B. The 12 teams are coming on the back of a thrilling group stage. Haryana (Group I), Maharashtra (Group II), Himachal Pradesh (Group III), Jharkhand (Group IV), Tamil Nadu (Group V) and Manipur (Group VI) all topped their respective groups. Meanwhile, Chandigarh (Group II), Karnataka (Group VI), West Bengal (Group V) and Odisha (Group III) advanced to the final round as the four best second-placed teams.

At 11 goals, Anju is currently the top scorer of the tournament, followed by Goa’s Karen Estrocio and Karnataka’s Maitreyi Palasamudram at eight goals. Karnataka’s Kaviya Pakkirisamy and Kerala’s P. Reshma occupy the fourth and fifth spot respectively in the top goalscorers list.

Held in Kerala, the final of the previous edition of the Hero Senior Women’s National Football Championship was won by Manipur – their third consecutive title triumph, after they defeated Indian Railways in penalty shootout. Interestingly, the two sides will face each other in the final round on Monday, June 19 at the GNDU Sports Complex.

Manipur are the record 21-time winners of the tournament – the most titles won by a team since the inception of the competition in 1992. West Bengal follow the Northeast Indian state in second place with two titles to their name. They have also finished runners-up in the Championship a whopping 13 times and will be looking to lift the trophy for the first time since 1997.

The 14-day campaign will see a horde of talented young players coming into limelight and it remains to be seen which of the teams will be crowned champions this time.

Mumbai, January 7, 2017: Playing in front of their home crowd, Father Agnel School & Junior College bagged a double crown in the Senior Girls and Boys category finals of the inaugural Reliance Foundation Youth Sports Football Nationals Championship at Cooperage ground, here today.

On the other hand, Chowbagha High School and Charuchandra College once again regained supremacy over their arch rivals from Kochi to bag home twin titles in the Junior and College Boys category.

It was a disappointing day for the boys from Kochi. Despite having made it to the finals in three categories, the boys fell short at the last hurdle only to finish as runners-up.

Sachin Tendulkar along with Abhishek Bachchan and John Abraham joined Mrs Nita Ambani,  Founder & Chairperson Reliance Foundation Youth Sports to grace the occasion on the finals day.

College Boys

Charuchandra College (Kolkata) 2 beat Nirmala College (Kochi) 1

Charuchandra College, Kolkata brought down the curtains on the Reliance Foundation Youth Sports National Championship with a convincing 2-1 victory over Nirmala College, Kochi in the college boys category. Charuchandra got off to a quick start with Suraj Mahato putting the team ahead in the 15th minute of the game. The boys from Kolkata continued to keep possession of the ball and looked to double the lead but Nirmala College defended well to keep the score 1-0 at half time.

After the break, Nirmala College went into an all-out attack. Nirmala College playing in yellow pressed for an equaliser but the final finish deserted them. Charuchandra counter-attacked on a number of occasions in search of the second goal. In the 60th minute, Charuchandra made a substitution with Ankit Mukerjee coming on for Biplab Bera. The substitution instantly paid off with Ankit striking a thunderous shot to double the lead in the 63rd minute of play. Nirmala College pulled one back with a deflected shot from Abhiram Shaji. The goal brought in added enthusiasm to Nirmala College but the game ended 2-1 with Charuchandra College taking home the championship. Biplab Bera of Charuchandra College was awarded the player of the match.

Senior Girls

Fr Agnel Multipurpose School and Junior College edged out Rosary Higher Secondary School, Goa 1-0 to win in the senior girl’s category at the Reliance Foundation Youth Sports National Football Championship held in Mumbai. Fr Agnel Multipurpose School playing at home went ahead in the 22nd minute of the game with a splendid goal from Akanksha Kandalkar. The Mumbai eves played some exquisite passes on the way to scoring the lone goal of the game. The Goan girls fought back strongly throughout the game but the defence of Fr Agnel Multipurpose school held on. Akanksha Kandalkar for Fr. Agnel Multipurpose school once again showcased her skills throughout the game and walked away as the top scorer.

The junior boys of Chowbagha H.S.. (Kolkata) win the title in style with a crushing 7-0 victory over Sacred Heart HSSS, Kochi. Kolkata lads Surya Sarkar claimed 4 goals while Partho Chakroborthy, Ajay Tolange and Samrat Sikder scored one goal each. The match witnessed both teams creating multiple chances but Kochi failed to convert the opportunities into goals.

Senior Boys

Fr. Agnel Multipurpose School and Junior College, Mumbai held their nerves in a thrilling encounter against Govt. HSS, Panampally Nagar (Kochi) to beat their counterparts and won the title in the Senior Boys Category. The fiercely contested finale witnessed a tie at 1-1 with the game moving into a penalty shootout to decide the winners. Ashwin U’s miss at a crucial shot during the penalty shootout resulted in the Mumbai boys winning the title by 4-2 in penalties.

Mumbai, January 05, 2017: Reliance Foundation Youth Sports have roped in Sony Pictures Networks (SPN) to live broadcast the RFYS National Football Championship finals scheduled on 7th January 2017 here in Mumbai.

Schools, student athletes, parents and scouts will be able to watch the finals on SPN’s premier sports channels’ Sony Six and Sony Six HD starting 12 afternoons as Father Agnel School & Jr College will take on Govt. Higher Sec. School, Panampali Nagar-Kochi in the Senior Boys final. This will be followed by the live broadcast of College Boys final between Nirmala College-Kochi against Charuchandra College-Kolkata from 2:30 pm.

In addition, all the matches will be stream real-time on multiple digital platforms like www.rfyouthsports.com, Sony Liv and Jio TV

Launched in July 2016 by the Indian Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi and Mrs Nita Ambani, Founder & Chairperson Reliance Foundation, the RFYS Football Competition attracted over 1900 educational institutes fielding 2500 teams in four categories to compete in the eight City Legs. The City Leg winners of in each category qualified for the RFYS National Leg currently underway at Mumbai from 30th December 2016, with finals scheduled on 7th January at Cooperage Ground.
