]]>The trials will serve as the first step in the selection of players for SUFC’s upcoming Residential Academy, which aims to provide young football players with elite training and guidance in a supportive environment. The Academy will offer a comprehensive programme that is designed to support the development of players, both on and off the field. The programme is structured to ensure that players receive exceptional value, with access to modern facilities and expert coaching, to develop players not only as footballers, but also as well-rounded individuals who will be provided with a pathway for a professional career at a competitive fee structure.
To find talented players, SUFC is holding open trials across multiple cities. The trials will be held on February 15, 2025, at the Ulsoor facility in Bengaluru, followed by trials on March 1st and 2nd at Bavdhan and Kharadi in Pune, respectively. These trials are open to boys aged 11 to 18 years who are keen to showcase their skills and secure a place in the Academy’s comprehensive development programme. All young footballers in this age group are welcome to take part in these trials.

The SUFC Residential Academy is designed to serve as a home for future footballers to bridge the gap between grassroots training and professional development. With a FIFA standard facility, world-class curriculum, position-specific analysis, and licensed coaches, the Academy will provide its resident players with an unparalleled training experience and support to help them compete in renowned tournaments.
The focus of the SUFC Residential Academy goes beyond football training. It will provide holistic development through life skills training, emotional development, and career counselling. The SUFC Residential Academy will ensure that students receive a balanced academic education alongside their athletic training, following a recognized educational curriculum. Since 2012, South United Football Club has trained more than 13,000 football players and achieved significant milestones, including participation in the 2nd Division I-League, multiple (four times) top two finishes in the BDFA Super Division and being the champions of the BDFA ‘A’ Division. ]]>Bengaluru, 13th November 2024: Indian Super League team Bengaluru Football Club were awarded a five-star rating by the All India Federation, based on Phase 1 results of the AIFF Academy Accreditation for 2024-25. The academies were evaluated based on key criteria to ensure they meet AIFF’s standards for youth development and were given ratings accordingly.
“Our Youth Academy and Player Development Pathway are features of our Academy that we’re incredibly proud of, and the five-star Academy Accreditation from AIFF is another feather in our cap. This is a testament to the vision of the ownership, hard work of our coaches, technical staff, players and parents, and a recognition like this goes a long way in providing further impetus to our efforts to continue as the best Indian football talent factory in the country,” said Darren Caldeira, Blues’ Director of Football.
One of only two entities to receive a five-star rating alongside Reliance Foundation Young Champs, the Blues’ Grassroots Development Programme includes the BFC Soccer Schools, the BFC Residential Academy, the BFC B Team and the First Team. Bengaluru FC were awarded the Best Professional Academy by the AIFF in 2024, and have received the 2022-23 Best Grassroots Award and the 2023-24 Best Elite Youth Programme Award from the FSDL for their efforts in youth development.

3. Damli Bomnyo: Damli ‘s natural goal-scoring instincts and his skills have set him apart as a formidable winger within the academy. His dedication and consistent performance have been duly recognized, and he is poised to make his mark at the senior level. Previously he played Sub Junior, Junior National Championship for Arunachal Pradesh.

Excerpts from the Interview:
Did the Idea of starting a Football Academy occur back in your days as a footballer?
I started my Career in football at the age of 7 with the help of my dad, because he was also a footballer. After that, I played Inter-school level, State level, National level, and in Mumbai Super Division Etc. Then I thought I would also start one day my own academy.
Being a Maharashtrian, why did you choose Bengaluru to establish the academy?
Yes nice question, when I relocated to Bangalore for a job, I observed that here, there are not enough platforms for grassroots football. I know how much training at an early age is important for a professional career in sports so I went about starting an academy in Bangalore itself.
What were the biggest hurdles you faced leading up to the launch of the academy?
Well for me, there are lots, I am new in this state so when I came here I was not exactly aware of this place. The biggest challenge for me in this new city is convincing the parents to get their kids into the academy, etc
What, in your opinion, makes football a great sport for children?
Playing football helps improve your child’s fine motor skills, balance, flexibility, and spatiality as he plays. The best play requires teamwork and coordination, all of which are skills children learn by playing football. The game makes them better and football is a sport anyone can play, all they need is someone to show them the proper track.
How do you evaluate success as an owner of Bharat Football Academy?
Success never ends, I just started. The main thing is my dad’s dream that was supposed to start one academy and train those players who have talent but they don’t have scope or platform. So I am fulfilling my dad’s dream. Not only coaching, but I also have big plans for this academy going forward. I want this academy to become India’s best academy. I want my team to represent in the ISL, I-league in the future.

It also has a Gym, a Medical Room, an AV Room, a Running Track, a Sandpit, Dressing Rooms and Lockers, an Ice Bath, a Steam Bath, a Café, and several other sports facilities that players can avail of. The Academy also has an experienced team of licensed and professional coaches who provide age-specific training to the players. Players will also have access to Sports Psychologists, Sports Physiotherapists, and Sports Nutritionists who are dedicated to the growth of every athlete who joins the Academy.
Building a Complete Pathway for Athletes
At the SUFC Academy, players will be able to grow from the Junior Development Programme to the Youth Development Programme to the Elite Development Programme. The Academy players can then try out for SUFC’s Elite Youth Teams and even SUFC’s Main Team.

The entire team gave a big thanks to Mr Gordon Fernandes (owner), Mr Prithvi Victor (Coach) and Mr Johnson De Silva (Manager), Ronald Abraham (asst. manager), Dawson Rebello and of course their guardian angels Mr Oswald and Mr Scott who left this world but stayed in our hearts!
It was tough for the team as there was a halt in the tournament due to the ongoing pandemic. But in the end, this win is a testimony of not only their skill and dedication but also the winning and fighting mentality!

]]>Established in pre independence era in 1936, Kamptee’s Rabbani Club has completed 85 years in football making it probably one of the oldest football club in central India. The club has a glorious history of producing number of national and international footballers from a small town like Kamptee, which brought laurels to the district as well as country.
Abdul Rasheed, father of late international footballer Nazeer Pagadu was the first president of the club while Master Sheikh Hussain Rabbani was the secretary. Sheikh Rabbani devoted his entire life for the sake of club, school and community . Therefore it was decided to name both club and school after his name.
After the death of Abdul Rasheed, Abdul Matin, the vice principal of Rabbani School remained the life president of the club. During his tenure as a president, Mohammad Umar Khizrai, Mohammad Yusuf Ansari and Mohammad Zaheer-ul- Hasan held the post of secretary. After Abdul Matin, Mohammad Iqbal Sayeedi was nominated for the post of president.
In the year 1942, for the first time Rabbani Club participated in Jinha Cup at Delhi and then in 1945 got the opportunity to participated in Nizam Gold Cup at Hyderabad. This is the only club from Vidarbha, who played in all the major tournaments like DCM Cup, Mumbai Rovers Cup, Durand Cup, IFA Shield at Kolkata and Gold Cup in Patna.
In the CYMS league, Rabbani Club has created history by winning the championship most number of the time. The period of 1947 to 1955 is considered as the glorious period for the club. Mohammaden Sporting Club, one of the top 3 football clubs of Kolkata were so much impressed by the players that they went on to sign half a dozen players from the club. Players who played for Mohamaden Sporting include Mushtaque Ahmed, Mohammad Ali, Salauddin, Mohammad Nazeer Pagadu and Mohammad Ibrahim, Mohammad Yusuf, Mukhter Ahmad, Mohammad Zaheer-Ul-Hasan Ansari and Qumruddin, Salauddin.
One of the most prominent player of Rabbani Club would be Mushtaque Ahmed, who played for India XI in an exhibition match against Russia in 1956 at Jabalpur. He scored a goal and became famous as wonder boys of the club. In the said match Mohammad Nazeer Pagadu, another Rabbani player was the goalkeeper on the Indian team. In 1957, Mushtaque received a trophy from the first prime minister of India Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru during the DCM Trophy Football Tournament at New Delhi. Rabbani Club also went on to emerge winners in Rovers Cup, Bombay Football Tournament in 1955.
Others include Mohammad Ali, who got prestigious Shiv Chhatrapati award of the state government in 1974. He became the first footballer to beg the award given by Maharashtra state. Ishrat Kamal of this club represented India in Asia Cup in 2006 held in Japan. Inteshar Alam represented the Indian school team at Singapore.
Meanwhile, Rabbani has also created number of players who have went on to play in Santosh Trophy including the likes of Mukhtar Ahmed, Abdul Sattar Ansari, Reyaz Ahmed, Israr Ahmed, Salam Ahmad, Sultan Salauddin, Shakeel Ahmad, Zahid Iqbal, Asif Akhter Ansari, Nasir Jamal, Ishrat Kamal, Rizwan Ahmad, Shahid Akhter, Javed Akhter Ansari and Zahid Akhter Ansari. Those who represented Junior national team include Mohammad Asif, Naseem Akhter, Asif Iqbal, Anees Ahmed, Zeeshan Ather, Mohammad Yaseen, Tauseef Ansari and Mohammad Rasheed.
There are numbers of others Rabbani players, who have played for clubs like Air India, ONGC, Pune FC, J&K Bank Kashmir, & others clubs in I league & other domestic tournaments all over the India. Currently one of fellow Rabbanian, who started his football career in the club and last played for East Bengal FC is Asheer Akhtar. He has already played for Pune City FC, Salgaocar FC, Lone Star Kashmir & Bengaluru FC(notably in AFC Cup).
In recent time, Rabbani Club won NDFA Super Division Football Title in 2011-2012. Just few days ahead of platinum jubilee, the players expressed their gratitude towards the club by winning Majju Seth Memorial Football Tournament – a gift to the club on a memorable occasion.
