St. Sebastian, Air India U19 & FC India triumphs in Super Division
21st January 2018, Mumbai: In the Super Division of MDFA, three matches were played on Sunday at Goans Sports Association and Mumbai Football Arena, Andheri Sports Complex. St. Sebastian, Air India U-19 and FC India registered impressive wins to notch up important three points.
Group C – St. Sebastian (Umesh Kamble 34′, Joshua Dias 39′, Dalton Wilson 69′, Salman Khan 73′ and Ankit Choweta 85′) 5-1 Soccer XI (Anuj Kumar 80′)
In the Group C encounter, St. Sebastian played against Soccer XI at Goans Sports Association. In what turned out to be a thumping victory, St. Sebastian defeated their counterpart 5-1.
After a slow start, St. Sebastian picked up the pace after the half-an-hour mark. Umesh Kumble opened the scoring with a fine finish in the 34th minute before Joshua Dias doubled the lead five minutes later.
Dalton Wilson bagged St. Sebastian’s third goal in the 69th minute which was followed up by Salman Khan’s sublime goal in the 73rd minute.
Anuj Kumar cut short the deficit for Soccer XI but Ankit Choweta rounded off the victory for St. Sebastian in the 85th minute to start their campaign with a winning note.
Group D – Air India U-19 (Himanshu Rao 46′, 60′ & 63′ and Alok Chauhan 70′) 4-1 Sellebrity FC (Siddhant Pathak 75′)
In the Group D clash, Air India U-19 continued their fine form after breezing past Sellebrity FC 4-1 at Goans Sports Association Ground, Churchgate.
After a goalless first-half, attacker Himanshu Rao punished Sellebrity after scoring a spectacular hat-trick in the second-half. His superb finishing proved too good for Sellebrity’s backline. Alok Chauhan scored the fourth goal for Air India while Siddhant Pathak netted the lone goal for Sellebrity.
FC India (Suraj Bhagat 15′, Agnelo Picardo 18′, Harsh Solanki 24′ and Mithilesh Kasare 95′) 4-2 Companeros (Zeeshan Shaikh 39′ and Pranit Gaikwad 64′)
In the third and last Super Division game of the day, FC India continued their winning run with a yet another victory. They defeated a spirited and energetic Companeros side 4-2 at Mumbai Football Arena, Andheri.
After going down 3-1 at the break, Companeros responded brilliantly in the second-half but failed short to salvage a point against a strong FC India side.
Two early goals by Suraj Bhagat and Captain Agnelo ‘Aggy’ Picardo gave FC India a stellar start before Harsh Solanki danced past six players including the goalkeeper to score FC India’s third goal.
Zeeshan Shaikh pulled a goal back for Companeros which was followed by Pranit Gaikwad’s goal in the second-half which opened the game completely.FC India wrapped up the game right in the end through substitute Mithilesh Kasare’s strike in the 95th minute.
