Tarun Sporting Club win in a penalty shootout, enter the second division final
Mumbai: Tarun Sporting beat Colaba Sports Academy in their Mumbai District Football Association (MDFA), Second Division Semifinal match held at St Xavier’s ground, Parel on 27th April 2017. i.e Thursday afternoon.
A thrilling semifinal that went the distance had all ingredients of a blockbuster. And it did not disappoint seeing the match went to penalties. Knowing the stakes of the match, a place in the final was up for grabs both teams were up for it from the word ‘GO’.
The opening goal of the game came in the 16th minute. Ajinkya Umalare netted the goal to put Tarun Sporting in front. The lead was well deserved. The equalizer came in the 36th minute through Keval Pagdhare.
The match was poised evenly from then on and both teams failed to score the winning goal. The match had to be settled on a penalty shootout. It’s all about who held their nerves and went through the shootout. Tarun Sporting Club won 3-2 upstaging Colaba Sports Academy in the semifinal. They are into the final of the Mumbai District Football Association (MDFA), Second Division, they will face the winner of Skorost vs Rahul Mitra Mandal.
