Despredos and Theresian play out stalemate

On 2nd November, 2015 Despredos and Theresian played out stalemate as they drew 1-1 in their Mumbai District Football Association (MDFA) 1st Division clash at St Xavier’s Ground, Parel.

At the brink of first-half, Nigel D’Souza put Theresian ahead with a sublime finish but Jatin Meher’s strike late in the second-half earned them a hard fought point which could have been gone in Despredos favor.

Right from the Referee’s whistle, Despredos were looking more fragile and had better attacking unit than Theresian.

Although Despredos were not clinical in front of the goal as they failed to convert their chances into goal in both the halfs.

Theresian capitalized on Despredos’s vulnerable defense as Nigel D’Souza volleyed home on 34th minute to give Theresian a vital lead. Nigel’s goal was the talking point in first-half as Theresian went into the break with a 1-0 lead.

The second-half saw Despredos going all on attack as they needed an all-important equalizer. Not to forget that Despredos, who were leading BBC 3-1 in their last game failed to defend their score and went onto concede two goals in last stages of the match.

A single mistake in front would cost them another goal at the back as their backline is not experienced.

In the late stages of the match, Despredos finally had their say when Jatin Meher comfortably placed Tanuj Meher’s low cross into the net to earn Despredos a hard fought draw.
